ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL, DAVAO DEL NORTE, PHILIPPINES (20 September 2025) – Bridgeport, Samal Island is ready to welcome athletes, families, and the triathlon community as the inaugural Damosa Land 5150 Samal and Sunrise Sprint take center stage on September 21, 2025.
Damosa Land 5150 Samal has already made history as the largest inaugural 5150 event in the Philippines in terms of participation, attracting a strong athlete turnout from across the country. It is also a truly global race, welcoming international participants from Australia, Japan, Colombia, Great Britain, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, the USA, and France.
“This event is more than just a race – it’s a celebration of Samal as a premier destination for sports and tourism,” said Ricardo Floirendo Lagdameo, President of Damosa Land, Inc. “We are proud to partner with Sunrise Events to showcase Bridgeport and the island’s natural beauty to the world, while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.”
The 1.5km swim will start in the clear waters in front of Bridgeport, following the coastline of Samal Island. Athletes will then take on the 40km rolling bike course, offering stunning views of the Davao Gulf and Davao City. The challenge ends with a 10km run passing through the business center of Samal Island, where locals and supporters are expected to line the streets and cheer participants to the finish.
For newcomers and short-course enthusiasts, the Sunrise Sprint offers a shorter format – 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run – making it the perfect entry point to triathlon.
“Bringing the 5150 brand to Samal is a milestone not only for Sunrise Events but for Mindanao as well,” said Princess Galura, President and Managing Director of Sunrise Events Inc., the licensee of the IRONMAN brand events in the Philippines. “Athletes will discover a race course that blends natural beauty, cultural richness, and a truly festive community spirit.”
The weekend will also feature the Bigiw Run on September 20, a 5km fun run inspired by the colorful outrigger canoes of Davao, adding a family-friendly and community vibe to race weekend.
With strong support from Damosa Land, Inc., local government partners, volunteers, and sponsors, the Damosa Land 5150 Samal promises to be more than just a race. It will be a showcase of the island’s culture, hospitality, and a thriving future in sports tourism. Athletes, spectators, and visitors can look forward to a full weekend of competition, camaraderie, and celebration in one of the most picturesque destinations in the Philippines.
